Retail

Engage better with your customers through a pieWiFi service

Customer demand for high speed online access when “out and about” is rising fast – driven by the growing penetration across all market demographics of powerful and easy to use WiFi enabled portable Internet devices – especially smartphones and tablets. These consumers increasingly look for and prefer retailers who offer WiFi access.

Your investment in a high quality managed WiFi service from PieNetworks will assist you to attract new customers into your premises who value WiFi access as part of their retail experience. Whilst they are in-store, you can then present these WiFi connected customers with content and applications that give them a better retail experience. For example, a virtual shop assistant with extended product and service information that helps customers make their selections, navigate their way around the store, or makes them aware of special promotions and offers.

Once your in-store customer is connected to your WiFi and has downloaded your application onto their device, you then have a channel to communicate with that customer for future marketing and promotions, even when they have left your store!

Coffee Shops, Pubs and Clubs

Provide your customers with high speed online access

In coffee shops, pubs and clubs where people meet to do business or relax with friends, it’s increasingly likely that high speed Internet access to their smartphone, tablet or notebook PC is going to be an important part of their experience. Consequently, affordable or free high speed WiFi offered as an alternative to expensive and often congested 3G services will increasingly be a factor in decisions about which venue to go to for a business meeting or a catch-up with friends.

Once your customer is connected to your WiFi, the utility of the service can be a driver to keep them longer - which provides an opportunity for additional product or service sales. If they download your application onto their device as part of the process of connecting to the PieNetworks managed WiFi service, you also create a channel to communicate with that customer for marketing and promotions, even when they have left your coffee shop, pub or club!

Stadiums & Event Venues

Let your customers tweet about how great your event is

Customer demand for high speed online access when “out and about” is rising fast – driven by the growing penetration across all market demographics of powerful and easy to use WiFi enabled portable Internet devices – especially smartphones and tablets.

At major events and stadiums where there is a significant concentration of people, the challenges of getting high speed access via 3G mobile services are likely to be severe – even with good coverage, the available data speeds are likely to slow to a trickle with so many people trying to get online at the same time.

pieWiFi, a carrier grade managed WiFi service, can provide the solution for these extremely challenging situations – and help ensure customers get all the data bandwidth they need to enjoy their experience at the event, and to be able to share it with friends.

Holiday Parks & Resorts

Keep your customers in touch with family and friendsYour customers need to get news updates, make travel arrangements, and communicate with friends and family – make that easy for them with high speed WiFi, dedicated terminals, and a managed Internet solution from PieNetworks.

Many of your tourist guests have their own WiFi enabled devices – smartphones, tablets and PCs – so their preferred access to the Internet is likely to be via these devices rather than dedicated terminals. WiFi is frequently a much better alternative for them in holiday parks and resorts than carrier 3G services – which depending on their carrier and the location may have weak coverage and slow connection speeds.

A high speed WiFi service is increasingly a key selling point for resort accommodation – and a factor in customers selecting their preferred accommodation option.

So whether your objectives are to attract new customers, improving the experience of your existing customers, or help ensure they come back again – a high quality PieNetworks WiFi and Internet access solution is one of the best investments you can make to set yourself apart from your competition.

Government & Financial Services

Encourage customer self service

Customer self-service, if executed well, brings huge benefits for both customers and service providers. Customers get the benefit of easier and more widespread access to services and information, often on a 24/7 basis. Customers may also avoid the perennial frustration of standing in long queues (or alternatively waiting in long telephone queues) to deal with customer service staff often with fairly simple or straightforward questions or transactions. For the service provider, a well executed customer self-service capability can deliver not only significant cost savings, but also improve customer access to their services, and potentially increase customer satisfaction as they become comfortable with the new self-service approach and appreciate the improved access.

Customer self-service applications can be delivered to the customer’s own mobile device (typically smartphone or tablet), or alternatively a dedicated terminal can be installed with an optimised user interface.

One approach is to leverage an in-store customer WiFi service to promote the self-service applications to customers – so they leave the store or branch office with the self-service application downloaded and installed on their device.

Enterprises

Over the last 15 years, all Enterprises have connected their staff to the Internet – typically via PCs/laptops at workstations connected via Ethernet. The Internet connectivity comes with VPNs, and a range of corporate security measures – firewalls, virus and spam filters, content filtering, etc. Today, desktop Internet connectivity for staff is well surrounded by corporate policy and appropriate safeguards.

The smartphone and tablet age, which has burst upon us, has created an immediate problem – a lot of staff Internet connectivity is now via these devices connected to expensive 3G and 4G mobile broadband services, which are often quite outside the control of the company’s existing security and controls. This has been a boon for the telcos, but at a rapidly growing cost to the Enterprise.

These smartphones and tablets are all WiFi capable – which creates an opportunity for the Enterprise to winback some measure of control over the data services to these devices, and reduce the cost of Internet connectivity by having the devices attach to WiFi when on the company premises, and thereby have the data traverse the Enterprise’s existing fixed infrastructure at low marginal cost.

An additional opportunity for the Enterprise with its managed WiFi service is to enable easy Internet access by visitors, clients or partners whilst on the company premises. This can be a highly valued facility for collaborative work with partners, meetings with suppliers or customers, or supporting visitors.

It’s critical to have the right WiFi solution – it needs to be carrier grade, which means highly reliable and able to deliver sustained throughput performance. Conventional, domestic grade WiFi technology delivers notoriously poor performance especially in “noisy” environments where there are many competing radio signals. Something much better is required.
